I was engrossed reading ...Wow what a lovely post... I was engrossed reading it, the history of your family and especially you as a child, watching your mother cook (and reading dictionaries hehe)... I think I suffer the same syndrome as you, I love my food TASTY and FLAVOURSOME by which I interpret as spicy and lots of seasoning. But as you so rightly pointed out, that's not always the best way to gain "taste". Living in London there is little fresh, organic produce, or rather because I'm in central London I can't get it easily. Am looking fwd to coming back to Oz where people seem to take fresh foods, especially seafood, for granted. Thannks for a lovely post! xcattyhttp://www.thecattylife.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7700505313257578551.post-29290821740537139702010-01-05T22:22:39.994+11:002010-01-05T22:22:39.994+11:00thank you for the beautiful article. you do have a...thank you for the beautiful article. you do have a way with words and not to mention cooking! Like you, my family has endured through times of hardship before and as a child I never really appreciated their simple cooking - in fact they prefer it over lavish meals. I forget their history sometimes and don't appreciate what they do, but your post is a timely reminder for us all to appreciate what we have now.Foragerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15981496472094513643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7700505313257578551.post-21194135920350435962009-12-16T11:29:11.736+11:002009-12-16T11:29:11.736+11:00Great post. I did not want to contaminate the food and so could not taste- I was very worried but relieved to find out that the dishes had turned out well despite me tasting! - love the journey you took us through with your post!Gastronomy Galhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05955438178695030127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7700505313257578551.post-58108167954732937282009-11-24T15:51:50.139+11:002009-11-24T15:51:50.139+11:00Great blog, sticky.

Sometimes just seeing one or two things together on the bench - baby zukes, lemons and leftover bagel chips, for instance - will set me thinking.

I feel sorry for Heston Blumenthal spending all that time in his chemistry lab...Pat Churchillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13046825503041304111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7700505313257578551.post-57388123700774203092009-11-24T10:45:46.213+11:002009-11-24T10:45:46.213+11:00A good cook needs to think as much as taste ;)

Just realized my comments sound like Greeting Card wisdom-sorry!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
