What a lovely pub with fantastic food. I think in no small part we had such a good experience thanks to the people - Annemarie, Shane and Tim (who was in the kitchen on the night we were there). I just want to gush, gush, gush we had such a great evening. Thank you for sharing your experience.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7700505313257578551.post-81644285796514290982011-06-15T19:14:04.422+10:002011-06-15T19:14:04.422+10:00Thanks for sharing your thoughts - most appreciate...Thanks for sharing your thoughts - most appreciated!

If you'd like to see where else we went on this trip I have created a google map of things I recommend, which has been picked up by Vist Melbourne http://bit.ly/kofDCL.stickyfingershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14861830835308131738noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7700505313257578551.post-70737832824842371382011-06-15T14:17:25.354+10:002011-06-15T14:17:25.354+10:00sounds like a fantastic trip! :O)sounds like a fantastic trip! :O)Two fit and fun galshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01911921579763949068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7700505313257578551.post-60559426453779125872011-05-22T20:43:15.601+10:002011-05-22T20:43:15.601+10:00A wise choice with the seared scallops. Those two gentelmen you referred to earlier to are typical of the rusted on predudices that some customers present. They can, at times wear one down but hopefully the Stanley Pub will attract a more appreciative clientelle over time.
That whole notion of 'bit fancy' really shits me. It's dismissive, derogatory and suspicious. Just because a dish may not be familiar or it presented with panache does not make it a foreign interloper.
Sadly, with this kind of prevalent attitude, little wonder Maccas channelled the same sentiment to sooth its customers that change need not be a scary thing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7700505313257578551.post-56555220680240725602011-05-16T15:11:46.991+10:002011-05-16T15:11:46.991+10:00Thanks for the mention of my blog Sticki, it looks...Thanks for the mention of my blog Sticki, it looks like they are doing great things there. I love that pub. When I went, it had been closed awhile, it was fathers day and the chef had just started, there was plenty good there, and looks like plenty more now. Can't wait to go back. I was in the area over Easter and most of the pubs, while comfortable and often atmospheric, were very disappointing for food.

Seems like most country towns have some good low-cost cafe/bakeries, a few standout restaurants but a huge shortage of decent middle-range offers. This is where pubs should be doing a great job - they often have the money from pokies, and the space, but not the willpower. I still remember the gnocchi with tomato sauce made by opening a can of crushed tomato...yuk!

Keep up the good work - KenKen Burginhttp://www.ProfitableHospitality.comnoreply@blogger.com
