Malay Kitchen anthropology

Every contrivance of man, every tool, every instrument, every utensil, every article designed for use, of each and every kind, evolved from a very simple beginnings.
Robert Collier

Spotted recently in Penang, a collector's treasure trove of antique Malaysian kitchen paraphenalia.

G'day Sticky-Is this stuff you have hoarded & are about to open a Malay Homewares stall? LOL! Seriously, lovely pictures, are all the accoutrements old?

Thanks Vida.

Yes all old, Gobbler, lovely and weathered, on display to tourists interested in the kitchens of a wealthy family. I can image the toil of the servants as they turned out dishes in the huge kitchen space that these items were displayed in.

I would have killed for some of those goodies though. Oh to have a large flat mortar and pestle and some of those pretty stacked lunch caddies or tiffins.
